  3. Perkins “1112” Snapshot Year • Participants = District Summary Reports

  4. Student records needed to compile the “1112” Snapshot Year Perkins Data Level 3’s in the 1112 Snapshot are “Leavers” CTE Participants, Concentrators, or Completers who were enrolled between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 Last Year’s Level 2’s (“1011” Concentrators) who did not enroll in CTE between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 Level 1’s and 2’s in the 1112 Snapshot are “Participants, Concentrators, or Completers”

  5. Student records needed to compile the “1112” Snapshot Year Perkins Data Level 3’s in the 1112 Snapshot are “Leavers” Last Year’s Level 2’s (“1011” Concentrators) who did not enroll in CTE during the “1112” SNAPSHOT YEAR You will need to refer to pages 8 and 16 in the Perkins Reporting Manual for 2011-12

  6. Student records needed to compile the “1112” Snapshot Year Perkins Data CTE students who completed at least 10% but not 50% or more of the state-approved academic or career/ technical standards in their CTE program major as of June 30 of the Snapshot year. Level 1’s in the 1112 Snapshot are “Participants” Refer to pages 8 and 16 in the Perkins Reporting Manual for 2011-12

  9. Level 2 Students Are Included in the 1112 Snapshot as “Concentrators” These students were enrolled between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012. Level 2’s are the “Concentrators and/or Completers” during the Current Snapshot Year” You will need to refer to pages 8 and 16 in the Perkins Reporting Manual for 2011-12

  10. Concentrators “1112” Snapshot • Concentrator: Completed 50% of state approved standards (academic or career/technical) in his/her program major, plus is enrolled in credits or other activities to meet the additional standards Between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012; • OR

  11. Concentrators “1112” Snapshot Year • Concentrator: Completed a short-term CTE program sequence of less than 12 credit units that terminated in an industry-recognized credential, OR terminated in a certificate, OR terminated in a degree between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012

  12. Student “Y” is a Concentrator enrolled in CIP 11.6999 who changed majors to CIP 11.1503 during the Snapshot year. Only One Record for a Student However, There Are Two Cases Where a Student May Have Multiple Records Once a student reaches concentrator status in ANY CTE program, that student must be tracked until they are no longer enrolled at your institution. Therefore, students who reach concentrator status in one program will continue to be classified as a CTE concentrator, regardless of change of major or hours earned in the new major. Only one record will be reported for the Level 2 student, and that record will contain the program CIP of the major recorded at the time of the snapshot. They will remain a Level 2 Concentrator.

  13. A Student Enrolled in Two Different Majors Simultaneously At the Time of the Snapshot • Student “X” enrolled in CIP 11.1303 • Student “X”enrolled in CIP 11.1902 Simultaneously enrolled in 2 CIPs Two (2) different records will be reported in the Snapshop for Student X because Student X is simultaneously enrolled in two programs having two different CIPs. (CIP 11.1902 and CIP 11.1303)

  14. Once a Concentrator/Always a Concentrator Unless you Become a Leaver Rule • Student “X” then enrolled in a second major CIP 11.1303 and is enrolled in it during the 1112 Snapshot Year • Student “X”graduated from CIP 11.1902 during the previous SNAPSHOT Year (1011) • There may be 2 records for a student who graduated from one program (1st CIP) during the previous 1011 Snapshot year, if they enrolled in a second major (2nd CIP) after they graduated and are enrolled during the current 1112 Snapshot. • (Record 1) In the 1112 Snapshot, Student X is reported as a Leaver (Level 3) under the 1st CIP 11.1902 because they graduated from the program during the previous 1011 Snapshot Year (they graduated sometime between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011) • (Possible Record 2) The 1112 Snapshot may also require that Student X be depicted as a “Participant (Level 1)” or a “Concentrator (Level 2)” in their second major (different CIP 11.1303) that they are enrolled in during the 1112 Snapshot (between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012).

  15. The Unless You Become a Leaver Part of the Rule • Abby Gail also enrolled in a second major (CIP 52.0407) and is enrolled in it during the current 1112 Snapshot Year. She reached “Participant or Concentrator” Status in the 2nd major in 1112. • Abby Gailgraduated from CIP 52.0401 during the previous SNAPSHOT year (1011) with an AAS degree in Office System’s Technology. 1st record: Abby Gail is reported as a Level 3 in Office System’s Technology CIP 52.0401 in the 1112 Snapshot data because she graduated from the program during the 1011 SNAPSHOT year. 2nd record: Abby Gail reached either “Participant” or a “Concentrator” status in the second major (CIP 52.0407) during the 1112 SNAPSHOT Year. A 2nd record in your 1112 Snapshot shows Abby as either a Level 1 or a Level 2 in CIP 52.0407 Microcomputer Technology (based on whichever Level she reached in that major.)

  16. This concludes Part 1: Extracting Student RecordsWe will now open the phone lines up for any QUESTIONS you have at this point.

  17. 5 Minute BreakDuring the next part of this Webinar, we will explain how to run edit checks and code the extracted records

  18. Perkins Reporting “1112” Technical Assistance Webinar (Part 2) Running Edit Checks and Coding Student Records

  19. Perkins “1112” Snapshot Year • Level 1 Participants

  20. Run Edit Checks on Fields in the Student Records that are Imported The District Codes and School/Campus Codes are found on Pages 4 and 5 in the Perkins Manual Run an Edit Check to make sure these codes are entered correctly for each student record.

  21. Run Edit Checks on Fields in the Student Records that are Imported 008 Campus 2 appears to offer CIP 15.0303 and fails the 5P2 indicator. This occurred because one student enrolled at Campus 1 in CIP 15.0303 and was coded with the wrong School code.

  22. Run Edit Checks on Fields in the Student Records that are Imported

  23. Run Edit Checks on Selective Admissions Programs Students seeking admission to selective admission programs (for example, Practical Nursing) should not be coded with the selective admission program’s major until they have been formally admitted to that program.
