Conclusions • Our results show that IRF-7 has a direct impact on HIV-specific CD8 T cells and does not induce proliferation of CD4 compartment. • The use of IRF-7 increases the frequency of memory CD8 T cells having strong CTL functions and enhance the generation of central memory phenotype that can mediate long-term protection. • Neutralizing antibody to anti-IFN reverses the IRF-7 enhanced central memory CD8+ generation. • IRF-7 increases the breadth of HIV-specific T cell repertoire, suggesting its role by inducing efficient priming of naïve T cells.
