Commission on Health Care …made up of faculty, staff, administrators and representatives of Nursing and Medical Schools to provide guidance in the development of University-wide policies that impact employee health care plans. Emphasis is on balancing employee health care policies with available resources from the University.

Commission on Health Care • Formed in 1993 • Charged by President Tom Ehrlich to bring increases in health care costs below double digit percentages • Represented by all employee groups and most campuses including the Associate Dean Primary Care, School of Medicine; Dean, School of Nursing; chaired by Dr. Glenn Irwin • Committed to educating its members on the industry, trends, utilization, new products and services • Solicited member feedback, guidance and support on health care plan changes and in communication to constituent groups

  4. CHC Today • Changes to federal, Indiana law: Prescription plan, Universal health care • Health Savings Accounts: • Savings account with preferential tax treatment • Employer, employee or both fun • High deductible health plan • Balances can be rolled over year to year, belong to employee on termination

  5. Smoke-free Campus:Currently under consideration • Web site support: cessation options • Incentive for non-use of tobacco products • Health care premiums incrementally increased • Open enrollment affidavit of tobacco non-use • Deposit to tax-free (TSB or HRA) account • State of Indiana
