  2. Summary of Discussions (1) • Standardization is important: • For Economic growth in a global context-both for developed and developing countries; strong tool for creating a green economy • Within education with new technologies • In a social dimension

Summary of Discussions (2) • How to teach standardization? • Incorporate standards education into the curriculum, teach it early on; however a single curriculum is not enough • Different dimensions of standardization (Henk de Vries): all must be included in the harmonized curricula, a good example of a curruculum design • All types of standards throughout curricula (DS) • Project-driven approach (PBL) for applied knowledge and ensure real-life experiences • Students should and want to be involved in standardization writing

Summary of Discussions(3) • How to harmonize educational curricula? • Content sharing:orchestrated action is very important for developing successful national and international research programs for standardization • Align research and standardization lifecycles; harmonize terminology; practical aspects’ • Broad range of social aspects to be included • Global aspects of standardization

Conclusions • Answering the ’why’ question: • Define common basic requirements and target audience (e.g., students at what level) • Answering the ’how’ question: • Focus on acquiring the required standards skills through building ’management skills pyramid’ • Focus on how to enable funds for launching educational programs about standardization
