  1. Formal Assessment Spring 2019Local Church - Community The Church themes which occur in each term gradually build on the understanding of the previous theme. In the Autumn, the children explored ‘My story’ ~ my family ~ Domestic Church. The Church honours the family with the title Domestic Church because it is there that ideally parents by their word and example are the first (teachers) heralds of faith with regard to their children. After Christmas, in Spring the children explore the theme ‘Our story’ ~ Local Church. The parish is where people gather together to celebrate and practice care and love for each other. The diocese is the community of the Christian faithful. In the Summer the children will go on to explore –‘The story’ ~ the universal Church. Please complete these formally assessed tasks at the end of the ‘Remember’ part of the process in RESPOND.

  2. Dear Religious Education Coordinators, The following PowerPoint shows the description of each task and following this are the highlighted Archdiocesan End of Year Standards to show how and where you will evidence a standard using the formal assessment. You may not be using working towards etc. but terms you would use at your school, such as emerging etc. Please remember this will only be one example of evidence of this standard. Other evidence will be found in your evaluations, oral work, written work, role-play etc. The formal assessments are set across the Archdiocese to enable us all to have an opportunity to moderate together as staff, clusters, Archdiocesan level and Nationally. When you have moderated we would be very grateful if you could send us some examples using the Exemplar covers from our website. This evidence will be considered for the National Exemplar Book to be produced later in the academic year. Please note that children in EYFS do not need to be formally assessed, however many schools wish to do this, usually towards the end of their Reception year. If you wish your EYFS children to be formally tested earlier in the year, then please adapt the Year 1 task as you see fit. Many thanks for your continued support Julie, Pat and Denise
