Focus on protection level, resilience/recovery potential, adaptability Indicators one element in this discussion (4 themes distinguished) Others are costs and benefits methods, uncertaincy management, feasibility/financeability, participatory approach

Lessons Indicators are to be tied to a policy process -> dependent on specific policies, specific context, stage of policy development process Does that mean that indicators are not useful at the European level? NO! EU/EEA indicators can be tied to EU policies, or used for international comparisons or common evaluation methods
