Ivoirienne Preferences for Short Birth Intervals, 1998-9 • In Côte d’Ivoire few women prefer very short birth intervals, only 15% want births with less than 2 years spacing but 41% prefer an interval of less than 3 years • For Côte d’Ivoire as a whole, 17 percent of women have intervals shorter than 24 months, only 2 percent more than preferred. • However, 54 percent of Ivoirienne women have intervals shorter than 36 months, 13 percent more than those who prefer such intervals.
