Chapter Vision/Purpose - continued • Supporting professional growth to those chapter member who are interested in pursuing professional certification as a Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) or Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) • Sharing “best practices” from our office and personal experience, which enhances the skills and knowledge of other administrative professionals

  9. IAAP History • Founded in 1942 as National Secretaries Association • Name changed in 1980 to Professional Secretaries Association • Name changed in 1998 to International Association of Administrative Professionals • Chippewa Valley Chapter founded in 1971

  10. Fun Facts • World’s largest association for administrative personnel • Nearly 600 chapters and approximately 40,000 members and affiliates worldwide • Works in partnership with employers to promote professional excellence

Benefits of Membership • Providing the tools and knowledge necessary to become a more effective contributor in the organization • Developing important leadership and presentation skills • Expanding the professional network and benefiting from the experience of others in the profession • Enhancing the professional status in the eyes of the employer
