  4. Pedagogical concept • All learning start with oneself. In order to be able to learn it is necessary to be aware of your own situation and what is needed there. • PIL participants need to learn from others' knowledge and experience in order to achieve their career goals • The driving force of the PIL participants is their own development and consequently they select their partners themselves.

  5. The working method for the PIL Programme is dialogue, which requires active participation. The pedagogical theme of the work within this programme is “action-learning” i.e. learning is the central issue and content is to be adapted to the needs and wishes of the participants

  6. Recruitment to the PIL Programme • The PIL Programme is aimed at young faculty members, primarily assistant professors. PIL participants are appointed by each head of school, two from each school. A balanced gender structure is desirable.

  7. Each PIL session will include 20 PIL participants. Each participant will select a partner him/herself. • Participation of relevant manager: as an important element in the career plan and development discussions for young faculty it is desirable that each PIL participant’s immediate manager joins the group for the first and last meeting.

  8. Organisation, scope and content • The PIL Programme continues for around one year starting in September 2011 and concluding in June 2012. • The Programme consists of different types of meetings: • PIL Meetings. The programme is organised into five PIL meetings when everyone involved meets. Contents of these meetings is based on current themes in order to contribute to developmental collaboration between PIL participants and their partners. • Partnership meetings (PIL participants and their partners) to be held approximately once a month (8 altogether) for approximately two hours. PIL participants prepare these meetings. • Assignments for PIL participants • The PIL participants will be given certain assignments for the period between PIL Meetings. They will then formulate what they have learned from the programme in their “personal career plan”.
