Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 Level 5 Level 6 61 iBT TOEFL Waiver 80 iBT TOEFL Waiver Intensive English Program Accreditation The Intensive English Program of the American Language Institute at California State University, Long Beach, is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation for the period of April 2002 to April 2010 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. Conditional Admission CSULB offers “Academic Eligibility” (called “Conditional Admission” on some campuses). TOEFL Waiver Undergraduates Successful completion of Level 4 of the CSU Long Beach-ALI Intensive English Program fulfills English language admission requirements for CSU Long Beach undergraduate Graduates or Second Bachelors Successful completion of Level 6 of the CSU Long Beach-ALI Intensive English Program fulfills English language admission requirements for most graduate

  9. Intensive English Program 13 weeks in Summer, 16 weeks in Fall & Spring Levels 1-4 Electives vary from semester to semester. Examples of Elective courses are TOEFL Preparation (offered every session), Pronunciation, Idioms, Computers, etc. Levels 5-6 Electives possibilities include GMAT and GRE preparation. Open University students participate in regular university courses with American students on a space-available basis. Fall and Spring schedules include an additional week for final exams in Open University courses. Students must be 18 years of age or high school graduates.

  11. Practical English Program The Practical English (PE) Program, available in July and August, is designed to improve students’ conversational English. Examples of elective courses are Pronunciation, Idioms, Computers, etc.

University Study at the Beach • Study Abroad! • The University Study at the Beach program provides an opportunity for international students to enroll in CSULB courses through the Open University process. • ·1-2 semester program • ·Enroll in 9-12 course credit units through Open University •  Credits earned may be transferrable to other universities • ·Receive an official CSULB transcript • ·No long admission process! • TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.5 is required
