Code benchmarking

Join us for a focused mini-workshop led by Wolfram Fischer on E-Lens simulations, taking place on December 3, 2008. This session will explore both short-term and long-term benchmarking measures for E-Lens experiments, covering crucial aspects such as emittance growth, beam lifetime, and relevant simulation parameters. Participants will discuss the implications of experimental uncertainties and determine what constitutes a satisfactory benchmark. Insights from Tevatron experiments and RHIC benchmarks will be shared to deepen understanding of performance metrics.

  2. Benchmarking Short-term measures to benchmark • Only footprints? • Tevatron experiments with Gaussian gun Long-term measures to benchmark • Beam lifetime • Emittance growth • In simulations tune/coupling/ chromaticity (which other?) should be varied by experimental/operational uncertainty • Free parameters? • What is good enough?
