  2. Story legend

  3. Setting The Touch Me Not Cottage: The Touch Me Not Cottage is the Fosters house. It kind of gives the appearance that they want to be left alone, to go away. It is kind of out of town away from everybody else. The Fosters, the people that own the house, also own their own wood. The Wood: The Wood is in the Fosters backyard. The Wood contains the magic spring that makes the Tucks live forever. It also contains the big tree that had a “T” carved in it. the tree is so big and still has the “T” in it because the tree feeds from the spring so it too lives forever. The Tuck’s Cottage: The Tuck’s cottage is also in the Foster’s Wood. It is way deep into the forest. Most of the story happens here because the Tuck’s and Winnie spend a lot of time here after Winnie finds out about the spring.

  4. Characters The Fosters: Very strict and they worry about Winnie a lot. Winnie: young girl. Her parents and grandparents worry about her a lot. She is very anxious to get out of the house and run away. She also really wants to drink from the spring. The Tucks: They can live forever. They kidnap Winnie and take them to their house in the wood. Mae Tuck: She is the mother/wife of the tucks, and she ends up getting in a lot of trouble Angus/Tuck: his real name is Angus but they call him Tuck. He is the father/husband of the Tucks.

  5. Character Study Jessie- Jesse is one of the Tucks. He is 17 years old and Winnie finds him very attractive. He seems to be very outgoing and adventurous. Since he lives forever he is really 104 years old. He likes to kind of show off. He wants Winnie to wait till she is 17 years old also then drink from the spring so she can live forever and they can go off and get married and live together forever. Winnie- Winnie is a Foster. She is ten years old. She finds Jesse the most attractive boy ever. She feels like her parents keep her in the house too much and are too over protective of her. She wants to run away and feel free for once. Her whole life she’s been kept in her yard with no friends and only the toad to talk to. She seems very shy and she gets scared when the Tucks kidnap her, but she also wants to drink from the spring.

  6. Problems One of the problems was the Tucks have Winnie and they don’t know how to get her home without being charged for kidnapping. Another problem was when the Tucks took Winnie and they were on the horse the man in the yellow suit saw them and wants to get Winnie home. Also when Mae goes to jail for hitting the man in the yellow suit in the head with a shotgun and the police want to hang her but she cant be hung because she lives forever, and the Tucks and Winnie have to find a way to get Mae out of jail.

  7. Plot • The beginning of the book starts off with Winnie Sitting in her yard talking to the toad. • Then Winnie decides that she’s tried of having so many restrictions and wants to run away. • When she runs away she goes into the wood and sees Jesse. • She sees him drinking from the spring and he tells her that she cant drink from it or else something bad would happen to her. • She really wants to drink from it and she cant so the Tucks kidnap her. • They put her on the horse and start going to their house. • On their way to the house the man in the yellow suit sees them and follows them to the tuck’s cottage. • The man in the yellow suit brings the sheriff to the cottage and tries to charge the Tuck’s of kidnapping. But before the sheriff can say anything Mae hits him in the head with a shotgun. • The sheriff sees it and send Mae to jail and threatens to hang her. • The night she goes to her cell the Tucks and Winnie get Mae out and replace her with Winnie.

  8. Resolutions One of the ways that they solved their problems is they decided to just bring Winnie back to the wood and let her go home. How they solved The Man In The Yellow suit seeing them is they tried to hide Winnie in their house until they found a way to bring her home. How they figure out to get Mae out of jail is Winnie offered to take Mae’s place till they got her away. They unscrewed the screws from the window in her cell and pulled Mae out and Winnie in.
