  4. “AR” Reading • Year long reading program • Based on individual level of performance • Rated by S.T.A.R. test • GE = Grade Equivalency • ZPD = Range for reading • Given quarterly • Self-Directed with incentives (2, 5, 10, 100) • 80% or better passes test • Be an “AR” All-Star • 100 T-shirt club

  5. R.A.M.S. 500 notes in Castle Rock = an extra recess!! 1,000 notes in Castle Rock = a special celebration!! *We had over 6,000 RAMS notes last year!!

  6. Respect Always Means Success! • Every day is a fresh start! • When a student has a “redirect” the teacher will write it and highlight it in his/her assignment notebook. • After 2 redirects the student will bring home a referral sheet to be signed and returned. This could be a minor or a major behavior problem. • The Castle Rock matrix will soon be added to the front of each assignment notebook!

  7. Book Orders! Castle Rock Teachers periodically send home several book orders for students to purchase books at a very reasonable price. We ask that if your family chooses to order, you send separate checks for each order. Please make sure that your child’sname is on the order form to ensure accuracy when the books arrive. Remember that you may also order online, and for each order placed YOU get a free book and so do WE!

  8. A Few Important Reminders • Please review the Beattie dress code carefully. It is there for the safety of our students. • See page 9in the Code of Conduct Handbook Please put any lunch money in an envelope with your child’s first and last name on it (and student’s ID number). Cash and checks are collected each morning and change will not be provided. • Please label all of your child’s clothing with first and last name in order to avoid lost or stolen items throughout the year.

  9. Thank you for coming! We look forward to a great year!
