  1. Greet visitors and make them feel welcome. This means looking them in the eye, introducing yourself and offering to shake hands. This also applies to fellow students and staff members of American Academy.

  2. If you are asked a question in a conversation, answer the question and then ask a question in return. For example: Katie: Did you have a nice weekend? Mandy: Yes, I had a great time. My mom and I went shopping. What about you? Did you have a nice weekend?

  3. Always say “thank you” when given something.

  4. When you receive something, do not insult the gift or the giver.

  5. Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, and say excuse me.

  6. When responding to any adult, you must answer by saying “Yes Ma’am” or “No Sir”. It is also acceptable to call them by their formal name, such as “Yes, Ms. Smith” or “No, Ms. Morrow”. Just nodding your head or saying any other form of yes or no is not acceptable.
