Setting up New R&D Models
IGIB has been very successful in setting up new business models for conducting R&D in its focus areas of research. Some of the successfully adopted R&D models by the Institute are one of its kind and have never been adopted by any other research Institute in India. One of the main R&D models adopted by the Institute in the recent past is “Genomed” – The Knowledge alliance of IGIB - Nicolas Piramal. A brief description of the above mentioned model is as follows:

Novelty of Genomed:
Genomed model has allowed knowledge generation and absorption by industry, while simultaneously using operating expenses of industrial partner, with very little capital investment from IGIB’s coffers. This is distinctly different from contractual research or technology transfer. The projects under Genomed are developed jointly using business driven R&D approach and are executed by Genomed scientists under the guidance of IGIB scientists and Director IGIB, who is the chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Board of Genomed.
