Water Conservation Project: Using Funnel in a Bottle to Save Water

In our project, we explored how using a Funnel in a Bottle can help conserve water that typically goes down the drain. We posed the question: "How much water can we conserve with this method?" Our hypothesis was that we could effectively reduce wasted water. By conducting an experiment at our school, we found that in just a couple of days, we saved a significant amount of water. If all students participated over 20 days, our school could conserve enough water to fill approximately 49 Funnels in a Bottle, potentially saving 500,000 in all CMS schools.

  1. Water By Sarah and Madelyn

  2. Idea We decided to use Funnel In A Bottle to help conserve water . Our idea would collect all the water that people would pour down the drain.

  3. Ask a question We had a big question: How much water can we conserve by using Funnel in a bottle?

  4. Make a Hypothesis If we use Funnel in a Bottle then we can reduce the amount of water we pour out. We can save 2 ½ Funnel in a Bottles in a school month.

  5. Conduct an Experiment step 1. Get 2 big plastic bottles step 2. cut them in the middle all around step 3. Take the top and turn it upside down on the bottle. step 4. Collect water bottles that were going to be dumped out with water. step 5. Once it is filled water the plants outside. +

  6. Collect Data For 2 days in 1 classroom we were able to save ¼ of our funnel in a bottle. In 20 days we can save 2 ½ Funnel in a Bottles. If all the kids in our Science class filled up Funnel in a Bottles for 20 days we could fill up 49 Funnel in a Bottles.

  7. Conclusion If we did this for all the schools in CMS, we could save about 500,000 Funnel in a Bottles. From our data after one week we had to dump out the Funnel in a Bottle.
