  2. 3. Spectrum installs a new cabinet next to the roadside cabinets and puts broadband equipment in here. This reduces the distance the broadband signal travels. Copper Copper 3.5Km BT Exchange 1.5Km Copper

  3. 4. Fibre is run back to the exchange and into Spectrum’s own equipment. This means the broadband signal does not drop as it goes ‘out’ to the Internet Internet Fibre Copper BT Exchange 1.5Km Copper

Unlike other providers, Spectrum puts 2 different technologies into their cabinets so customers can choose ADSL 2+ (upto 20Mbps) VDSL 2 (upto 80Mbps) These technologies offer different benefits – ADSL2+ is cheaper and can deliver broadband over 2km. Whereas VDSL2 gives very fast speeds and better upload but you have to be close to the cabinet.
