Needs Assessment: • Not enough employees at San Benito CISD are not taking advantage of the benefits that Microsoft Outlook Web App offers. • A proper training is needed to let users understand how to properly operate this available application. Proper use of Microsoft Outlook Web App would create a more effective communication system for our district.

  3. Needs Assessment: • Electronic communication should have a professional appearance. • The online training will help users send out professional looking emails and invites.

  4. Instructional Goal: After this training, the learners will be able to operate Microsoft Outlook Web Apps efficiently to create a more organized and effective communication system. Goal

Performance Objectives: Objective #1 Using their district email service account (CN), the learner will be able to create a simple email with an attachment and personal signature (B) without error (CR). Objective #2 Using Microsoft Outlook Web App (CN), the learner will apply their group contact creating skills (B) with 95% accuracy (CR).

  6. Performance Objectives: Objective #3 After viewing how to create calendar events and invitations (CR), the learner will be able to repeat the process (B) without the aid of the instructor (CR). Objective #4 After learning how to create “Inbox Rules” (CN), the learner will create their own inbox rule (B) without assistance (CR).

  7. Assessment of Learning Outcomes The learners will complete a short True/False quiz before and after the training. This will allow us to measure how much they previously knew and how much they have learned. • Microsoft Outlook Web App allows you to create calendars that you can share with others. True False 2. This program allows you to generate inbox rules so that you can send incoming mail to specific folders. True False 3. Personal signature is a feature that must be paid for. True False 4. Microsoft Outlook Web App only allows you to upload load documents in PDF. Format to share. True False Assignments will also be assigned after each lesson.

  10. Learner Characteristics: My targeted audience is any San Benito CISD employee with minimal Microsoft Outlook Web App experience. The learner should have basic computer skills. The participants must have their Microsoft Outlook account information at the time of training. I will be playing a power point presentation, giving verbal instructions, and assigning activities to meet the needs of the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners.

  11. Learning Context: The intended instructional setting would be in the San Benito CISD Technology computer lab. The computer lab has 20 PCs available for use. The lab is set up with internet access and a projector to allow the learners to follow along with my power point presentation. The training will then be uploaded on the San Benito CISD Moodle page for staff to access it as needed.

  12. Training Module • Introduction A) Overview of training Have you ever been overwhelmed with frustration because you could not properly operate Microsoft Outlook Web App? If so, then today is your lucky day. This online training was created to show you how to access this program and take advantage of all its features. The information in this training will help create a more organized and efficient communication system for any job setting.

Training Module • Introduction B) Statement of Goal and Objective After completing this online training the learner will be able to: • Create emails with attachments and signatures. • Organize their contacts into specific groups. • Create calendar events and send out invites. • Generate their own Inbox Rules.

Training Module • Introduction • What this training includes: Before and after the training, the learners will complete a short four question True and False quiz to measure the learning that occurred. The training will consist of four lessons. An assignment will be assigned after each lesson to reinforce the instructions given.

Training Module • Topic 1: Creating an Email • The learner will be given an overview of how to create a simple email with their assigned San Benito CISD email account. • The learner will learn how to attach different documents to the email. • Each learner will set up their own personal signature. • To reinforce learning, the learners will practice creating their own email with an attachment, and signature. They will be emailing their created email to cmvillarreal@sbcisd.net.

  16. Training Module • Topic 2:Creating Group Contacts • The learner will learn how to create groups with their contact information. • The learner will create a list of their campus staff. • The trainer will be walking around to make sure the groups are created correctly.

Training Module • Topic 3: Creating Calendar Events & Invites • The learner will learn how to create a calendar event on their personal MOWA calendar. • The learner will learn how to create an invitation for the event they have created. • At the conclusion of this lesson, the learner will send an invite to cmvillarreal@sbcisd.net. • The trainer will assess this activity by reviewing the invites.

Training Module • Topic 4: Creating Inbox Rules • The learner will learn how to create inbox rules. • After the lesson, the learner will practice creating their own inbox rules. • The inbox rule must use the email address cmvillarreal@sbcisd.net. • The trainer will need to review each participants result to assess the assignment.

  19. Training Module • Summary: Thank the participants for their time. Explain to them that after completing this Microsoft Outlook Web App training, they will be able to effectively navigate and utilize this efficient communication system and all it’s features. Let them know that a Softchalk training will be uploaded to the SBCISD Moodle page to access as needed. • Assessment: The Pre and Post training quiz will be used to assess the learning that took place during the training. The activities assigned after every lesson will determine the learning of each skill. Please see the rubric that will be used for the assignments on the next slide.

  21. Instructional Resources The learner will need the following materials to complete this training: • Computer (PC/MAC) • Internet Access • SBCISD Outlook Web App account access • SBCISD Moodle access (to review the training in the future)

  23. Evaluation Subject Matter Expert: I will have one of the Instructional Technologists in my office review the different lesson I have created with his expertise. Peer Review: A cousin of mine who is familiar with Microsoft Outlook Web App will evaluate how effective my lesson is. The information I gain from both reviews will help me make the changes to create a more effective training.

Summary • After completing this Microsoft Outlook Web App training, the San Benito CISD staff will be able to effectively navigate and utilize this efficient communication system and all it’s features. • Proper use of Microsoft Outlook Web App would create a more effective communication system for our district.
