  2. Basic Information!!! • Comes from a bushy Evergreen Tree. • From Sri Lanka. • Consisting of dry inner bark. • Light yellowish brown.

  3. Etymology • Dates back to 2800 b.c. • It was used medically with colds and flues as well as problems with digestion. • Ancient Rome it was burned at funerals to ward off the odor of the dead bodies. • Today Cinnamon is the most common of all spices.

  4. Culinary Use! • Usually mixed with sugar. • Used in Pecan Pie. Cinnamon Rolls, Cinnamon Honey Butter. • Mostly made in sweet foods.

  5. Cultivation • The Evergreen must be grown every two years then cut down. • The next year little shoots appear. They are strips of the thin inner bark. The bark is dry and the outcome is cinnamon. • Cinnamon stick are curled up. That way it’s the natural way the bark dries. • Greenhouse temperatures

  6. Health Effects • Great for diabetics because it can help lower blood sugar. • Used for athletes foot and weight control. • Help immune system, memory enhancer, and can prevent cold a flues, yeast infections, arthritis, indigestion.
