Purpose of briefings • To provide support to Candidates and Agents • To allow Candidates and Agents to get to know key members of the Elections Team • To provide information and advice • To contribute to a successful election process • To assist with the our election planning • To provide opportunity for enquires or questions

Structure of the Council at present(Governance) • Council (all Members) – every 8 weeks • Leadership Panel (seven Members) – every 4 weeks • in some Councils referred to as the Cabinet • comprises Portfolio Holders • Scrutiny Panels – every 4 weeks • “Legally required” Panels / Committees • Audit Committee • Regulatory Panel (Planning and Civic Government) • Licensing Board • Local Review Body

  5. Senior management structure • Chief Executive • 3 Executive Directors • 11 Heads of Service • 1 MD Ayr Renaissance • Total of 16 Chief Officers • Greatly reduced from 1996 • Subject to ongoing review

  6. Council Finances • Broadly a net annual spend of £265m • Comprising • Local tax raising • Previously 20% pa but has reduced in recent years • Block grant from government • Has risen from traditional 80% level • Income from fees and charges • Interest from investments
