  2. Criteria of evaluation • A criterion is a quality to which we refer when carrying out an evaluation. • An evaluation criterion is a perspective that we take to evaluate, examples: • Relevance • Correct use of the tools of the discipline • Coherence • Completeness • Originality, …

  3. Criteria • Criteria should be: • independent from each other. • Weighted • Few (3 criteria are generally sufficient)

  4. Two types of criteria

  5. Correct use of the criteria • Each complex situation should be constructed with 3 instructions, each one allows the evaluation of the 3 chosen criteria. • Teacher should always have in mind the criteria during the learning process.

  6. When we say the competency is acquired The competency is acquired when the student shows his mastering of each of the minimal criterion in two occasions over three.

  7. Indicators • An indicator is an element that should be observable in the production of the student. • It’s used to materialize the criterion.

  8. Examples of indicators • Qualitative indicators • Presence of a statement which talks about economics of energy • Presence of a statement which talks about household waste • Quantitative indicators • Maximum 3 orthographic errors

  9. Criteria and indicators • Criteria are the same for all the situations (family of situations) which define the competency. They are independent of the situation. • Indicatorsdepend on the situation.

  10. How to formulate an indicator • Indicator should be univocal: instead of “property of the copy” we say: “no stain” • Indicator can not be divided, it should be taken as a bloc.

  11. Number of indicators One or two indicators for each criterion in each instruction (the most important indicator that can be considered as sufficient to say that the criterion is mastered). Consequently, the total number of indicators per criterion is between 3 and 6 (for the 3 instructions )
