Defending Moment Dealing with Throw In’s • Opposition will have four options on their Throw In's where ever they are on the pitch. • Down the line • Inside into forwards feet • Square to midfielders feet • Back to defenders feet • Our defensive principles are: • Double up on throws down the line (wide forwards and full backs) • Screen ball into strikers feet (defensive midfielders) • Apply high pressure on square ball to midfielders feet (attacking midfielder) • Keep them locked in one side if ball is thrown backwards (centre forward) • Key Reminders: • Switch on early • Pick up their four most likely options • Double up down the line • Screen balls into strikers • Apply high pressure on receiving players
