U.S. west coast-based promoter Hal Abramson is an event producer with 50 years of varied experience in all kinds of festivals, fairs and outdoor events involving cars, boats, food, art, music and hobbies. In the 21st century Hal Abramson has chosen to venture out on his yacht exploring events in other countries around the Pacific Ocean with his wife Betty Love. Making the perfect life combining boating, interesting foods and producing outdoor events, Hal Abramson is an admired, experienced promoter. Although he loves California, he admits the state has changed dramatically over time, he still lives and promotes there, but after 2005, started spending more time on the water. With modern communication, he’s able to produce events remotely, checking in with event managers daily to steer his festivals in the right direction. As Hal said in 2021, "most of my job is to just keep the ship on course.“ Hal Abramson is admittedly a detail guy dealing with the minutia of putting together car shows, boat shows, food shows and others from either his home or yacht office.
Pictured right Abramson said "with a credit card and a phone, you can promote a festival from anywhere.” Hal added, “Once you know what to do, have your venue and an organization that also works remotely, these days you don’t really need to be in a physical office 6 days a week to get things done…. Working remotely combined with enjoying life is more fun with less stress. I only go into the office once in a while now." Working for other food festival and car show promoters starting in the 1970’s, Hal Abramson became an independent promoter first promoting small, profitable local events in SoCal, graduating to larger shows even promoting gamer conventions in the 2000’s. As a show promoter, Hal Abramson has seen the festival landscape expand and grow in the last 50 years with bigger shows and now they seem to number in the thousands. When Hal started promoting in the early days, learning from others, California’s population was just 20 million, now it’s 40 million.
And the demographics have changed dramatically from a Latino population of 9 million then, to presently over 15 million representing 39% of the state’s entire population. Abramson says this has changed the food and car shows the most, especially in southern California. "Latinos love their cars and know how to eat.“ Hal Abramson continues to promote shows blending semi-retirement from the waters of the world with great outdoor food, boat, car and gaming events!
