    • Student conduct
    • Deals with Emergencies
    • Supervision of four departments, Residence life, Security, Career services and Programming and Commuter services
    • Interaction with parents
    • Assist the V. P. of students affairs
  • What I learned from Laura Crow:
    • Be energetic
    • Never let personal feelings get in the way of your work
    • Know what you want
    • Be sure you fit at the institution.

  • What I learned from SharynSlavin-Miller:
  • Know the institution very well, that you might be working for
  • Get a Doctorate if you want to be a dean
  • Don’t be afraid to try new things
  • What she did as a dean:
  • Deal with Emergencies as they come up
  • Supervision of the women center, career center, student activities, The Daily Trojan- newspaper, campus life and recreation
  • Meetings!

  • #2 Know that student interaction might decrease
  • #3 Know the campus community that you will be deaning for.
