  2. Introduction • TEKS are the standards that Texas teachers use to guide their curriculum. • Discussion • Are TEKS necessary? • Why do we have them?

  3. TEKS for your Course(s) • Take a 2 minutes to think about the topics/concepts/TEKS that are most difficult for your students to master. • Take 1 minute to write down the top three topics that came to your mind. • Share with a partner (1 minute for each partner)

Objectives • Think about creative, innovative, and effective ways you can teach some of the more difficult concepts in your discipline. • Know the most difficult concepts in other disciplines. • Identify the top 5 concepts that are most difficult for students to learn in math (5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, Alg I) and science (5th, 8th) • Identify overlaps in the most difficult concepts across these disciplines and grade levels. • Brainstorm ways teacher across grades and disciplines can address these most difficult topics/concepts.

Your Task • Look at the item analysis for your assigned discipline and grade level for each year. • Identify the top 5 most missed questions and the corresponding topic for the questions for each year. • Look for overlaps in the identified topics and record those on your poster paper. Below the identified overlaps, record other topics that surfaced in your analysis. • Record the findings from other groups on your record sheet.
