  1. Michigan Merit ExamSpring 2007 Exam Administration Information

  2. What is the MME? • It’s the new state assessment called the Michigan Merit Exam (it replaces the MEAP). • The MME is made up of 3 testing components: the national ACT test; WorkKeys tests in math and reading (reading for information & applied math); and state created subject tests in the areas of math, science and social studies. • All juniors across the state will be taking this exam.

  3. When and Where is the MME? • The tests will be taken over the course of two days – March 13th and March 14th. • The ACT Plus Writing will be administered on March 13th. • The WorkKeys and state subject tests will be administered on March 14th. • They will be taken here at Mercy during the regular school day.

  4. Why take the MME? • The ACT score from this test administration can be used to apply to a college or university. • The scores from these tests will be used to determine if a student qualifies for the Michigan Promise Scholarship. The potential scholarship is worth $4,000 and can be used to help pay for the cost of attending a university (public or private), community college, or technical/trade school in Michigan. • Students who choose to attend an out of state college can still use the money to take college courses here in Michigan. For example, courses taken during the summer at a state affiliated school.

  5. NEW State Test Makeup Requirements • Junior students should make every effort to be present on each day of testing. If a student should miss a day of testing, make-up opportunities are scheduled for exactly two weeks later. • Students missing any one test portion of the MME in the Spring of their Junior year will have to make up all three testing components in the FALL of their Senior year. • Contact your counselor immediately if you miss a day of testing. Again, arrangements to makeup individual tests can still occur during the Spring ’07 test window.
