  2. Internet • The largest interconnected network of computer in the world.

  3. Internet Service • E-mail=A method of composing, sending, storing, and receiving messages over electronic communication systems.

  4. Internet Service • Telnet = Telnet is an Internet communications protocol that enables a computer to function as a terminal working from a remote computer.

Internet Service • FTP=File Transfer Protocol • a commonly used protocol for exchanging files over any network that supports the TCP/IP protocol (such as the Internet or an intranet). • There are two computers involved in an FTP transfer: a serverand a client • Download • To receive information, typically a file, from another computer to yours via your modem. • Upload • To send a file to another computer.

  16. Directory • A web directory is a directory on the “World Wide Web” • It specializes in linking to other web sites and categorizing those links. • Web directories often allow site owners to submit their site for inclusion, and have human editorsreview submissions for fitness.

Meta Search Engine • Meta Search Enginge is a search engine that sends user requests to several other search engines and/or databases and returns the results from each one. • They allow users to enter their search criteria only one time and access several search engines simultaneously. • Ex. • Search.com • Dogpile.com
