  2. PSAT • All juniors will take the PSAT on October 16th. The school covers the testing fee. This is the ONLY day students can take this exam. • Good indicator of how a student will score on the SAT. • Test to qualify for National Merit Scholarship Program.

  3. Spring Dual Credit • Registration and payment begins on November 14, 2013, for the Spring 2014 semester with South Plains College. • You will receive a postcard in the mail with the information for our dual credit sign up night in the spring semester.

  4. Dual Credit • Students and parents need to check with potential colleges/universities to see if dual credit hours will transfer. • Frenship cannot promise all dual credit courses will transfer. • There is a new TSI test in place of the Accuplacer.

  5. ASVAB • Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery • Test is available to juniors and seniors on November 4that 8:30 am, free of charge. • Students need to watch announcements on signing up for this optional test. • www.asvabprogram.com

  6. Research Top 5 Colleges • Juniors need to begin researching potential colleges. • Find out admission requirements, test scores, estimated cost, etc. • www.fastaid.com • www.finaid.org • www.fastweb.com • www.questbridge.org (application deadline is Sept. 28 of senior year)

  7. College Visits • Juniors are allowed 2 college visits. • Let teachers know you will be gone. • Bring back a signed and dated document from college/university and take to Ms. Dominguez in the attendance office for school board approved absence.

  8. Junior Year is IMPORTANT • Colleges and universities use the junior year final transcript for admission purposes. • Register with the NCAA Clearinghouse during junior year if playing Division I or II athletics. • Take SAT/ACT during junior year because you apply by November of your senior year! • University of Texas Automatic Admission for Class of 2015 will be Top 7%.

  9. ACT Test Dates www.actstudent.org *October 26, 2013 *December 14, 2013 *February 8, 2014 *April 12, 2014 *June 14, 2014 *FHS is a testing site on these dates. Juniors need to take in Spring 2014.

  11. Free Online Test Preparation • www.number2.com • www.testprepreview.com • www.actionlineprep.com • www.ineedapencil.com • Come by the counseling suite to get a username and password for ACT Prep Online.

  12. ACT/SAT Boot Camp • December 3rd and 4th on FHS campus. • Fee is $60 for both or $40 for one. • Watch Tiger Vision News and check the college readiness website for registration information.

  13. STAAR End of Course Exams • Remember that students will take the US History EOC the week of May 5th, 2014. • Students must pass this test in order to graduate.

  14. Junior Year Calendar • All information will be posted on the counselor’s webpage. • Students can use their counselor’s student computer. • Hard copies available in the counseling suite. • Pick one up before you leave 

  15. Coffee with the Counselors • These will be posted on our website and announced on Tiger Vision News. • College recruiters will come visit with our students about the admissions process. • Monday mornings from 8 to 9 am.
