  1. A Sovereign God and Us : A Love Story (pt. 2)

  2. Points Regarding God’s Sovereignty • Why is God Sovereign?  He is the creator! What He has made he can unmake!! (Col. 1:15-17) & (Hebrews 1:2-3) • Why did God make the earth? For His enjoyment and man’s habitation. (Genesis 1&2) • Why did God make mankind in His image? To provide an eternal companion for His Son. (Rom.8:28) We know that all things [the entire cosmos] work together [are cooperating] for good to them that love God [the Church], to them who are called according to his purpose [the Bride].

  3. Points Regarding God’s Sovereignty • Why did God Allow “Free Choice?”  64 But some of you do not believe me.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning which ones didn’t believe, and he knew who would betray him.) 65 Then he said, “That is why I said that people can’t come to me unless the Father gives them to me.” - John 6:64-65 We are drawn to the Son by the Holy Spirit. It’s God’s desire that none should perish (2nd Peter 3:9). The choice, though, is ours! 68 Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. 69 We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God. - John 6:68-69 We choose. Worship, trust, obey: or not!!

  4. Points Regarding God’s Sovereignty • Why did God choose to redeem us?  68 Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.” - John 6:68 25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. 29 No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. 30 And we are members of his body. (Eph 5:25-30)

  5. Points Regarding God’s Sovereignty 31 As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” 32 This is a great mystery, but it is an illu-stration of the way Christ and the church are one. (Eph 5:31-32) • Redemption wasn’t free. Who paid the price? 24  God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God. – Rom 4:24-25 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. – Romans 5:8 • Christ paid our price with his life that we might live!!

  6. How is (was) sin forgiven? 5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. 6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. 8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. 9 We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. 10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. 11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. - Romans 6:5-11
