What is the Mobility Vision Plan? • The 2035 MVP’s primary purpose is to identify various types of transportation projects (highway, transit, sidewalks & multi-use trails) that are needed to serve the travel demand in Polk County through 2035. • The 2035 MVP will provide a safe, efficient and sustainable multi-modal transportation system that meets the diverse mobility needs of Polk County residents, workers and visitors. • The Polk Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) is responsible for developing the 2035 MVP.

  20. Polk Transit Authority • The Polk BoCC has voted to place a referendum on the November ballot for voters to consider a one-half cent sales surtax. • If approved by voters, the referendum would provide funding for the consolidation of existing transit operations under the Polk Transit Authority (PTA) and provide local funding for countywide transit service.

  21. Polk Transit Authority • Current Transit Routes are not able to serve all of the existing newly developed areas of the County that need transit. • The proposed sales surtax will take the place of property taxes and other local funds that support the current systems and provide a reliable long term source of revenue. • The proposed sales surtax would also replace federal funds that will not be available in the future for operating assistance. • The Draft 2035 MVP includes the PTA’s plan for countywide service which would more than double service over the next five years.
