CCSS Shifts • ELA • BUILDING KNOWLEDGE through content rich nonfiction • READING, WRITING, AND SPEAKING grounded in evidence of text • REGULAR PRACTICE with complex text and academic language • Math • FOCUS strongly where standards focus • COHERENCE: thinks across grade levels and link major topics • RIGOR: Conceptual Understanding, Fluency of Skills, Application of Material

  8. Where We Are • 10/28 Home groups met to look at shifts • 11/1 Focus groups met to talk about thinking in the classroom • 11/18 Focus groups are meeting to get student and community input
