  1. Ordinance Affecting theAffordable Housing Advisory BoardAmending Article V of Chapter 2 of theOrange County Code May 20, 2008

Affordable Housing Advisory Board Created by Ordinance in 1992 • Mandated by Florida Statute to participate in the State Housing Initiative Program (SHIP) • The purpose is to review established policies, procedures, and land development regulations concerning affordable housing • In 1994 the Advisory Board submitted the Housing Incentive Plan to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) • The seven-member Advisory Board continues to provide recommendations and services on affordable housing issues.

Advisory Board ChangesAmending Orange County Code Section 2-181 • Florida State Law enacted in 2007: • Required changes to the composition and responsibilities of the Advisory Board • Ordinance amendments: • Increases the membership from seven to eleven members • Four new categories of appointment: • Representative of labor activity engaged in home building • Representative who actively serves on the local planning agency • Representative of employers within the jurisdiction • Representative of essential services personnel

Advisory Board ChangesAmending Orange County Code Section 2-182 Reporting Requirements: • The Advisory Board shall make recommendations to the BCC on incentives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing. • The Advisory Board shall submit a triennial report of its activities to the Board of County Commissioners

  5. Action Requested Approval of an Ordinance affecting the Affordable Housing Advisory Board, Amending Article V, Chapter 2, of the Orange County Code Section 2-181 to revise board composition, responsibilities and Section 2-182, reporting requirements.
