Title I funds are to be used in the following ways…
  • Help eligible children meet California’s Academic Content Standards
  • Support methods and instructional strategies that are proven to be effective and the strengthen the core curriculum
who are eligible students
Who are Eligible Students?
  • Students in grades three through eighth who are not yet proficient on the state’s academic content standards
  • Kindergarten through second grade students will be determined eligible based upon a District test measurement

  • Actions to increase eligible student achievement must be written in the school plan
  • Title I expenditures must align to plan actions
  • Title I actions and funds must be supplemental and NOT supplant
  • Data must be monitored for eligible students
  • Documentation for services to eligible students

What about NCLB?

BCSD Title I schools are measured based upon annual federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) targets for :

  • All students in grades 3-8
  • Subgroups of these students
  • English Learner student progress (AMAO)
  • Schools not reaching targets for two consecutive years enter program improvement status
  • Schools must meet all targets for two consecutive years to exit program improvement status
