Gustavo Stringel

Chief of Pediatric Surgery, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital

An experienced and renowned pediatric surgeon, Dr. Gustavo Stringel continues to develop his leadership skills as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Surgeons; he also holds membership in the American Pediatric Surgical Association and the American Medical Association. From 2009 to 2010, Dr. Gustavo Stringel notably served as President of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He established the Multidisciplinary Pediatric Surgery Group of Westchester, and serves as the organization’s President. Educated at the University of Mexico Medical School, Dr. Gustavo Stringel completed his medical residencies in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery at hospitals in Canada. He completed his Master of Business Administration at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2008. Dr. Gustavo Stringel serves as Surgeon in Chief and Director of Pediatric Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. His leadership role in the hospital includes serving as Chairman of the Surgical Services Committee. Dr. Gustavo Stringel also excels in his career as an academic, serving as a tenured Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the New York Medical College. Over the course of his career, Dr. Gustavo Stringel has presented more than 100 scientific papers across the United States and abroad, and has published more than 80 scientific papers in refereed journals as well as five textbook chapters. He continues to meticulously pursue his career as an accomplished pediatric surgeon.
