Learning Outcomes • Identify current challenges/issues of officer transition training. • Determine the most important content that should be included in transition training • Share successful techniques for training • Create a new framework for transition training • Share resources from other campuses

  4. Most Common Content Included • Campus resources • Important phone numbers/contacts • Officer job descriptions, roles, responsibilities, org. structure • Timetable • Unfinished projects, summary of goals accomplished/not accomplished • Mistakes made that could have been avoided • Advice from outgoing officer • Some type of notebook or other materials/boxes • Budget update • Meeting minutes • Important University policies • Advisor role

What do we know about how our students learn? • Integrate a variety of learning styles • Utilize technology whenever possible • One shot mass education is not ideal • They are use to a “summary” approach to content (ie. USA Today style) • Reflection on their learning does not come natural. • Continual and consistent feedback works and is usually requested.
