  3. Commute Seattle Goals • Improve access to Seattle’s City Center • Improve mobility within Downtown Urban Core & reduce automobile generated pollution and its effects on climate change Objective • Get 4,185 additional downtown commuters to choose a mode other than driving alone by 2011.

  5. Future of Downtown Seattle 2015: If we do nothing • 22,000 more daily drive-alone commuters • 20 more 10-story garages required: cost approaches $1 billion • 12 full lanes of highway traffic in each direction needed during peak commute times
