The C.A.S.T. (Collaborative Academic Support Team) is a dedicated initiative at Blakely aimed at meeting the diverse needs of every student. Our multi-disciplinary team includes the principal, classroom teachers, school psychologist, special education professionals, and more. Teachers meet with the C.A.S.T. for 75 minutes, discussing each student's strengths and areas for improvement. These gatherings occur in November, February, and May, allowing for systematic check-ins on student progress and ensuring intentional follow-ups. Together, we strive to create impactful educational experiences for all students.

C.A.S.T. Collaborative Academic Support Team
What is C.A.S.T? • A systematic and intentional way to ensure that we are meeting the needs of every Blakely student.
Who is on the C.A.S.T team? • Multi-disciplinary team: principal, 2 classroom teachers/data lead teachers, school psychologist, OT, SLP, SpEd teacher, Title 1 reading/math teacher, ELL teacher and Indian Ed Coordinator, when applicable.
The specifics: • Classroom teachers will be released by a roving substitute to come and meet with the C.A.S.T. team for 75 minutes. They will complete and bring their C.A.S.T form (see below) and any other available academic and/or behavioral data. We will talk about every student in the teacher’s classroom by name, strength and need.
Intentional follow-up: • We will have a note taker at the C.A.S.T. meetings and keep a Google Doc with our action list so that each member on the team can see what follow-up he/she is responsible for.
Timeline: • C.A.S.T meetings will occur in November, February and May in order for the team to check-in on student progress and needs. This process will also help the SST process to document interventions tried, progress made or not made, etc.
