  7. Lisbonbyday: What to visit! • Jerónimos Monastery • The monastery is one of the most prominent monuments of the Manueline-style architecture (Portuguese late-Gothic) in Lisbon. The monastery and the nearby Torre de Belém and Padrão dos Descobrimentos symbolize the Portuguese Age of Discovery.

  9. Belém Tower • BelémTower is a fortified tower built in the early 16th century. It was commissioned by King John II to be part of a defense system at the mouth of the Tagus River and a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon.

  11. Castleof São Jorge • The Castle of São Jorge is a Moorish castle occupying a commanding hilltop overlooking the historic centre of the Portuguese city of Lisbon and Tagus River. The strongly fortified citadel dates from medieval period of Portuguese history.

At night there are different places, where you can go, and each place has its own “culture”: from stylish discos to a hanging out in the street. • Have a look to this site to know a little more about in: Lisbon Nightlife • We suggest exploring Bairro Alto, where you can find all sorts of people in the street drinking in front of diversity bars (open until 3 am).

The palace stands on the top of a hill above the town of Sintra, and on a clear day it can be easily seen from Lisbon and much of its metropolitan area. It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th century Romanticism in the world.

CastleoftheMoors (Sintra) • The Castle of the Moors (Portuguese: Castelo dos Mouros) is a hilltop medieval castle located in the central Portuguese civil parish of Santa Maria e São Miguel, in the municipality of Sintra. Taken by Christian forces from the Moors after the fall of Lisbon, it was an important strategic point during the Reconquista.
