  3. Expanding Brackets • In algebra, expand usually means multiply out. • To expand a bracket you multiply each term inside the bracket by the term outside the bracket. 4(a + 6) = 4a+ 24

  4. EXAMPLES: 7(m – 5) 6r(4 + 5r3) 4gh(3g2 – 8h3) 7m– 35 24r+30r4 12g3h– 32gh4 • NOTE: • You can check your answer by factorising the expression.
