  3. Finance A field closely related to accounting Allocating of assets and liabilities over time under conditions of uncertainty. It can be defined as the science of money management.

  4. Finance can be broken into 3 categories • Public Finance • Corporate Finance • Personal Finance

  5. Personal Finance • Involves protection against unseen personal events • Budgeting • Effects of credit on individual finance standing

  6. Planning a secure and financial future

  7. It involves paying for things like education ,buying goods ,cars, real estate, insurance, investing and saving for retirement, • Paying for loans etc

  8. Corporate Finance It involves balancing risks and profitability while attempting to maximize wealth.

  9. There are 3 principal areas Capital Budgeting • Where the management must choose which projects to undertake The Sources of Capital • Where the organization will raise funds from

  10. E.g. the sale of assets, shares, borrowing for short time finance etc 3 The Dividend policy where excess cash is retained for future use

  11. Public Finance Related to the Government like the Taita Taveta County. This is handled by the Finance Minister in our County.

  12. This involves the identification of required expenditure, the sources, the budgeting process etc

  13. PLANNING Also called forethought. Is the process of thinking about organizing the activities required to achieve the required goals.

  14. Examples include Strategic plan, Marketing plan ,Site plans, Event planning environmental planning Succession Planning which involves developing internal people with potential to fill key leadership positions.

  15. General Purpose Having general purpose Anything in the Board that does not fit in the other departments. For example adminstration issues, rent, protocal, pr etc

  16. STAFF WELFARE Employee welfare is a term including various services, benefits and facilities offered to employees by the employer. The welfare measures need not be in monetary measures but in kind or forms

  17. These include items like allowances, housing transportation, medical insurance and food.

  18. Toilets, • washrooms, • Changing rooms

  19. Where the work requires employees to wear special clothing changing rooms should be provided , sitting and changing facilities which are easily accessible and ensure privacy for the user.

  20. Meal Breaks Clean and hygienic seating areas with washing facilities nearby and a means of heating food or water for drinks

  21. clean drinking water for your employees. Employees hope to find additional facilities such as cloakrooms and somewhere clean to eat and drink during breaks.

  22. STAFF WELFARE CONT….. • It includes monitoring of working conditions • Creating industrial harmony

  23. Through such generous benefits the employer makes life worth living for employees.

  24. IMPORTANCE OF STAFF WELFARE As an employer you have to provide benefits to your employees welfare, while this may impact negatively on your bottom line, looking after your employees will benefit you in other ways.

  25. Compliance The law requires that you provide certain benefits for the welfare of your employees

  26. 2) Hiring and Retention It affects the employees decision to accept or reject a job offer It also allows you to compete with the others to recruit and retain quality employees.

  27. 3)Employee motivation You show them that you value them. It makes them feel happy and motivates them to work harder

  28. 4) Employee well-being It fosters personal happiness and professional growth

  29. 5) Image It reflects the well-being of the county. It can even earn you press coverage giving you free publicity , improve the awareness of potential clients

  30. We need to • Conduct an employee survey to understand their needs and expectations Afterwards • Conduct an impact assessments and feedback surveys
