  1. Understanding the Concept of Krack Wi-Fi Vulnerability Wi-Fi networks have become the lifeline for all the tasks. As a result, it is necessary to keep the network secure. Wi-Fi networks come with a set of security issues, which you must know to stay secure from cyber-attacks. Connecting to an open Wi-Fi network is not as secure as you think. So, in this blog, we will discuss in detail about the KRACK attack. Read on. What is KRACK Vulnerability? KRACK stands for Key Reinstallation Attacks and the term implies an attacker can exploit the vulnerabilities that are found in WPA2. The hackers use attack techniques to take advantage of the vulnerabilities that are found in WPA2. The attackers use the technique to read important information that users assume to be encrypted and safe. The method can be used to steal sensitive information such as passwords, credit card numbers, chat messages, photos and emails. A hacker can gain unauthorized access to your device, manipulate your data and insert a malware into websites. How does KRACK work? This type of attack is a “4-way handshake” of the WPA2 protocol. This refers to a type of network authentication protocol for data that is delivered using network architectures. The ‘handshake’ happens when a client wants to connect to a protected Wi-Fi network and the access-point, which can be a router, provide an encryption key. This key will be used in encrypting all the internet traffic. At present, all the modems are protected with Wi-Fi networks using a 4-way handshake. Who is affected? KRACK vulnerability affects almost everyone who connects to a Wi-Fi using WPA2 encryption. According to researchers, the attack mostly targets Android 6.0 or higher and Linux devices. Apple iOS devices, Windows machines are however less vulnerable to the attacks. To prevent such attacks, it is advisable to use the best router for security and privacy.
