You can connect several devices to access the internet for personal and professional usage. Similarly, your kids can also use internet service on their respective or common devices to study while at home, play games, watch videos, and more. The usage of the internet for adults is not similar to like that of children. And, you have to set up a home internet filter option on the router to block certain unwanted websites. Well, in that case, you need to make some changes in the Wi-Fi router settings in the following few ways. 1. Filter Content & Block Websites on Router Interface The very first way to block websites on a Wi-Fi connection is through your router interface. It is a secure and straightforward way to filter website easy to access by kids and block few ones that are inappropriate for them. For blocking sites, you have to first login to the Router at the backend using a username and password. After that add any URL of the website you wish to block and do it one by one in a hassle- free manner. All the modern routers available today have this feature of the content filtration option at the backend. 2. Make Internet Access Changes via OpenDNS Few routers do have the functionality of directly blocking websites using the interface. At such times, users can use the third-party service of the OpenDNS network to block certain sites using the step-by-step process. a. Change Router DNS • Login to your router at the backend • Select the Internet tab to change the default DNS address to OpenDNS • Divert all network traffic to OpenDNS b. Create an OpenDNS account • Free login on account of OpenDNS • After successfully logged in, go to Settings and add the wireless IP address • OpenDNS will provide a link to download on your system, once download open it • Set network on OpenDNS • Select Settings for Home Network and then Web Content Filter • Go to Settings and click on Manage Individual Domains
