  1. We are all aware of how critical a hearty breakfast is to maintaining both physical and mental health. Breakfast has earned the label “king of all meals” from numerous health professionals and dietitians around the world. But that doesn’t mean that lunch and dinner aren’t as important. Many people skip dinner entirely because they think whatever they eat after 7 o’clock would make them gain weight. Instead, it might damage the body and promote weight gain because “when” you eat might end up being just as significant as “what” you eat. So here we mention the foods to avoid according to Ayurveda at night. We must avoid these foods as they are not good for our health.  Health professionals, particularly those who specialized in Ayurveda, have long emphasized the need for a light dinner that is still nutritious. There is a list of things that one should not eat these food at night since, according to Ayurveda, they cause an imbalance in the Kaphadosha.  In other words, we should avoid eating simple carbs like fried foods, packed frozen foods, etc. late at night because they have a high glycaemic index and may cause weight gain and a slowed metabolism. According to Ayurveda, the final hour of the day is controlled by Kapha, thus anything we consume needs to be able to balance Kapha rather than amplify it. There are several Ayurvedic principles that you could apply.

At any cost, avoid eating curd after dinner. You might substitute buttermilk for curd. Yogurt can worsen the body’s mucus problems. It generates an imbalance in the body, which could result in an accumulation of mucus in the nasal passages.

  3. 2. Milk If you frequently drink milk at night, go for low-fat varieties. However, be careful not to ever drink chilled milk. Attempt to drink hot, boiling milk. Low-fat milk and hot milk are both simple to digest. Additionally, you can flavor the milk with a tiny bit of ginger or cardamom.

Stop your habit of eating chocolates at night! The Ayurvedic expert stated, “Foods having a predominately sweet taste are guru (heavy), difficult to digest, and increase mucus.”

  7. 6. Food that makes you Gassy There are some food to avoid at night otherwise they will make you gassy. Foods with a lot of fiber and a tough time digesting can result in uncomfortable gas. Too much-dried fruit, broccoli, beans, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower can cause pressure and cramps, which can keep you up late. Try to avoid high-fiber foods before bedtime as they are good for your body but bad for sleep.

While it goes without saying that being hydrated is essential to good health, you should aim to avoid having a full bladder in the middle of the night. Even if they are healthy foods, it is recommended to stay far from meals with high water content. This includes watermelon, celery, and cucumbers.

Because fatty foods take longer to digest and are more difficult to absorb, you end up trying to go asleep while your digestive system is still working.
