Main terms of reference • Provide strategic direction for cultural services within the Sustainable Community Strategy and the Local Area Agreement for Derbyshire; • Take wider responsibility for championing, co-ordinating and developing cultural provision across Derbyshire, working with partner agencies and cultural providers locally, regionally and nationally; • Co-ordinate the performance management and delivery of LAA priorities • Co-ordinate delivery of other National indicators relating to Culture • Ensure that cultural services contribute effectively to other appropriate National Indicators • Work in co-operation with other partnerships on cross-cutting priorities • Ensure that the needs of service users, communities of place and communities of interest are reflected in strategy development; • Ensure that priorities are reflected in the key plans of relevant partner organisations; • Ensure that the mainstream budgets of key partners are aligned to key priorities and the delivery of LAA targets; • Maximise opportunities arising from 2012 and Cultural Olympiad.

  7. Culture’s contribution to other indicators • NI 110 Young people’s participation in positive activities • NI 163 Proportion of population qualified to at least Level 2 • NI 186 Per capita reduction in CO2 emissions

  8. Shared indicators • NI 1 % of people who believe people from different backgrounds get on well together in their local area • NI 2 % of people who feel that they belong to their neighbourhood • NI 3 Civic participation in the local area • NI 4 % of people who feel they can influence decisions in their locality • NI 5 Overall/general satisfaction with local area

  9. Derbyshire’s approach • Outcomes and issues – not just indicators • Culture indicators all based on surveys • Planning needs to address the real issues – danger of hitting the target but missing the point
