Observable vs. Unobservable Behavior (see handout)
Conducting the Evaluation Step 1) Arrange the date with the instructor approximately 2 weeks in advance; provide the AE with the complete document form with guidelines. Step 2) Meet with the instructor approximately 10-15 minutes before the class to: a: collect syllabus and day’s lesson plan (ask the teacher to give you handouts with the students) b: get a debriefing from the teacher on the class, progress, day’s objective, etc. Step 3) Observe the complete class or until a break. Meet with the teacher briefly to give overall comments.
Conducting the Evaluation Step 4) Provide the AE with the complete document within one week in order to provide feedback in a timely manner. Step 5) Suggestions for improvement should be clear and methods/options of improvement should be provided. Step 6) Any AE who has multiple areas that need improvement should be given observed briefly within the next 2-4 weeks. Step 7) This process should be repeated until the teacher demonstrates improvement and/or the attempt to improve.
