Eating a apple

  • The food goes in the mouth; it is chewed into little pieces by the teeth and mixed with saliva (spit) A apple a day keeps the doctor away by eating a apple will keep the doctor away and keep your teeth nice a fresh to eat and crunch away for the next day.

  • The food is swallowed. It travels down the food pipe to the stomach.


Stomach

  • In the stomach the food is mixed with lots of digestive juices. This breaks the food down into tiny little pieces that can be taken into the body.


Small intestine

  • The tiny pieces of food pass into the small intestine.

  • Here all the good bits (healthy sugars, nutrients, minerals, some fats) are taken into the body. The small intestine also known as the small bowel.

  • The waste products and water pass into the large intestine , here all the water needed is taken the body.

What bits are left after the large intestine are waste products. This leaves the body when we go to the toilet.
