The University of California, governed by The Regents, plays a pivotal role in higher education, research, and state services as outlined in the California Master Plan for Higher Education. Despite its autonomy, it must secure financing through cooperation with the Governor and State Legislature. The Regents prioritize maintaining high-quality education while ensuring access and affordability for students. It's crucial for citizens to understand UC's contribution to California's economy and advocate for its support to produce skilled graduates that meet the state's needs.
