  3. Health Insurance: What does it cover? • Treatment of many of the common diseases seen in Ghana: • Malaria • Diarrhea • Upper respiratory tract infection • Skin diseases • Hypertension • Diabetes • Asthma • Most prescriptions and over the counter medications

  4. Country-wide Immunization Programs • BCG (for TB) • OPV (polio) • DPT-HepB-Hib (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, hepB) • Rotavirus • Pneumococcal • Measles • Yellow Fever

CHPS Zones: Community-Based Health Planning and Services • Services Include: • Vaccinations • Uncomplicated births • Treatment of malaria and other common diseases • Birth control/family planning • STD testing • Anything outside their abilities, patient referred to regional hospital • Cape Coast University Hospital • Saltpond Regional Hospital • Korle-Bu Hospital
