  3. Bus Boycott… • Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) • Non violent protest successful • Eliminate segregation from society • Eisenhower uses Federal troops to enforce laws in south….

  4. Little Rock • Arkansas high school (Central High) forced to admit 9 black students • Orval Faubus • Governor • Needs to be re-elected – becomes staunch anti-segregation • uses National Guard to prevent integration

  5. Little Rock 9 • Faubus defies gov. • Lets chaos grow in school • Police and Army used during the mob • President uses 101 Airborne to fix problem • Civil Rights Act of 1957
