  4. Math 1 Units • Introduction to Functions & Equations • Linear Functions • Systems of Equations and Inequalities • Exponential Functions • Quadratic Functions • One Variable Statistics We also cover topics from the Math 8 curriculum that were not touched on in 7 Plus last year.

  5. Important Math 1 Information • Students in this course will have to take the Math 8 EOG and the Math 1 EOC. • The final Math 1 EOC grade will count 20% of student’s final grade • Required high school level course and students are getting credit for this course on their transcript

  7. Point Recovery Opportunities • Students are allowed to participate in MPMS Point Recovery Opportunity when they score below a 70% on tests/projects (25-50 points) • Students must complete the specific remediation assignment and turn it in with test corrections • Available once per assessment • Scoring: • Earn ½ credit on each corrected question • Earn up to a 70% on assessment score

  8. Late Work Policy • All late work will have a half point deduction for each day assignment is late until point value reaches zero

  9. Organization and Calculators • Importance of keeping the math notebook up to date • Graphing calculators are a must for 8th grade math and beyond.  Students can rent one from school if one cannot be purchased.
